SolarGIS database coverage

Main Features

• Data aquisition: postprocessed and re-modeled ECMWF and NCEP GFS data from atmosphere surface model
• Spatial resolution: 1 km grid
• Original temporal resolution: 6 hours or 1 hour
• Regional coverage: most parts of Europe, Africa, partly Asia, South America, Australia
• Validation: over ground stations. For monthly averages the MBD is -0.1 ºC, monthly MSD ranges between 0.4ºC and 0.6ºC.

Data products available

• Time series: 15-minute and 30-minute, hourly values
• Aggregated statistics: daily, monthly and yearly values
• Typical Meteorological Year (TMY)

What time period is available

• Historical data from 1994 (1999 in some regions of Asia) up to present time - for planning, design optimization and bankable financing, data can be accessed interactively (SolarGIS iMaps or climData applications) or via automatic data transfer (e.g. web-services)
• Nowcasting data for the most recent history (up to the present time) can be regularly delivered via ftp, web services or email in real-time for performance assessment and monitoring
• Forecasting data for the time horizon 0 up to 72 hours - delivered online
